Exchange Strengthens America through Book of Golden Deeds Award
Now is the time to celebrate the unsung heroes in our community who often go unrecognized. The Exchange Club of Grayslake is honoring Cynthia Lee with the Book of Golden Deeds Award. Lee is being presented with this honor as a result of her volunteer efforts.
Cynthia Lee, a lifetime resident of Grayslake is the daughter of Rodney “Chief” Rockenbach. She has been secretary of the Exchange Club of Grayslake and the District Director for Lincolnland District of Exchange and treasurer of the Lions Club for many years. She volunteers at and The Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum in her spare time. She has served on the Grayslake Library Board, Consumers Credit Union Board, and the Grayslake Junior Colts Board and is currently the Village Clerk. She also enjoys spending her time with her grandchildren Jack, Abigail, Ashley, Michael, Tiffany, Trevor and Tyler. Surrounded by her family, Lee accepted the award after an introduction by her son Jeff. Lee is the 3rd Rockenbach to receive the award. In 1984, Raymond Rockenbach received the award and in 1989 Jim Rockenbach was the recipient.
The Book of Golden Deeds Award is an Exchange Club program that honors a worthy person or group that continuously donates time, talent and energy to help those in need. Many times, fine citizens of our community do numerous good deeds that go unnoticed. This award is designed to honor these unsung heroes.
Lee received a special plaque to commemorate the occasion.
Exchange, America's Service Club, is a group of men and women working together to make our communities better places to live through programs of service in Americanism, Community Service, Youth Activities, and its national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse.
