D46 Education Foundation Awards Seven Scholarships to Science Olympiads

The CCSD 46 Education Foundation has awarded $225 merit scholarships to seven students attending Park Campus, Frederick School, and Grayslake Middle School.

Recipients submitted essays expressing their interest in the sciences as well as a desire to be a part of a team and develop a stronger sense of self confidence. Others stated a desire to help their parents manage expenses by applying for the scholarship.

Scholarship applications were reviewed by a committee that included local business leaders in addition to Foundation Directors.

Gabe Nalley, Senior Manager at FedEx Ground and Chic Martin of Chic Martin Signature Homes graciously volunteered their time on a Saturday morning to review applications. They were joined by Matt Hansen, Foundation Director and Oncology Scientist at Abbott Labs, Tom Meskel, Foundation Treasurer, and Bill Kornit, Foundation Vice President.
