Otolaryngologists Leslie J. Block, MD, and Allen H. Carlins, MD, have joined Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and welcomed Landon J. Duyka, MD, to their practice, now
renamed Northwestern Lake Forest Ear, Nose and Throat.

The physicians will continue to practice at their current offices on the campus of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and Northwestern Grayslake and perform surgery at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and Northwestern Grayslake Surgery Center. They will add a third office in Glenview in March, 2013.

Block received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School in 1972. He completed both his internship in General Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago in 1977. He was an assistant professor at Rush University Medical Center from 1979 to 1999, was named one of Chicago’s Top Doctors by Chicago Magazine in 2001 and continues to be listed in the Consumer

“Dr. Carlins and I are proud and excited to join the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and to bring the expertise of Northwestern Medicine to our patients,” said Dr. Block. “We welcome Dr. Duyka to our practice and
want our patients to know we continue our commitment to bringing them the highest quality of care possible.”

Board certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology in head and neck surgery, Carlins has practiced otolaryngology for 21 years. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1987. He was trained in general surgery at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals from 1987 to 1989 and was trained in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Northwestern University Medical School from 1989 to 1992.

Carlins has practiced with Block at Lake Forest Ear, Nose and Throat since 1992. He served as Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Northwestern Lake Forest from 2002 to 2005 and Chairman of the Department of Surgery from 2005 to 2007. He was also a member of the pediatric services committee at Northwestern Lake Forest from 1997 to 2001.

“Our practice philosophy is to first and foremost listen to the patient, because they are trying to tell you what the problem is,” said Dr. Carlins. “Joining Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation gives us access to a network of physicians from more than 40 specialties and subspecialties to help ensure that our patients are getting the best care possible from the highest quality health providers.”

Board certified in otolaryngology, Duyka received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 2004. He completed an internship in General Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2005 and a residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery

"I am very excited to join Northwestern Lake Forest Ear, Nose and Throat and begin serving the communities of Lake Forest, Grayslake, and Glenview at the start of
the new year," said Duyka. "Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation is well known for having world class physicians, and I could not be more proud to be a part of it.”
