Live Debates - 10th Congressional, State, and County Races
Live Debate - Robert Dold and Brad Schneider Vie for 10th Congressional District, also State and County Board Candidates Participate on Sunday, Oct. 14
Robert Dold (R) and Brad Schneider (D) have agreed to a debate organized by the League of Women Voters (LWV). On Sunday, Oct. 14, 1:30 at Lake Forest High School, the two congressional candidates will meet in their only joint, live meeting. Their other debates will be recorded in Chicago. As the race heats up, and election day nears, more questions arise. This is a unique opportunity to hear the candidates' answers in person. Questions will be gathered from the audience.
The Candidate Debate is being sponsored by three League of Women Voters local chapters in the 10th Congressional District. They are: LWV-Lake Forest/Lake Bluff, LWV-Highland Park/Highwood, and LWV-Deerfield. Two other co-sponsors are the Union League Club of Chicago and Patch, the online news. All sponsors share the goal of educating the public.
"It is very important that voters have the opportunity to hear questions answered directly by the candidates. There is too much spin and misinformation in the paid advertising." said Jane Partridge, Co-President of LWV-LFLB. "We are very pleased to be able to offer this debate here in our communities. The League of Women Voters, nationwide and for decades, has hosted candidate debates in order for citizens to learn first-hand about the people who are running for office."
Two other debates will follow the Congressional period. The candidates for Illinois General Assembly will take the stage next. The candidates for State Senate 29th District are Julie Morrison (D) and Arie Friedman (R). The candidates for State Representative 58th District are Scott Drury (D) and Mark Shaw (R). Both these races are drawing a lot of attention due to redistricting and the retirements of Susan Garrett and Karen May.
The last debate will include the candidates for Lake County Board Districts 11, 12, 13, and 21. These districts encompass parts of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Knollwood, Highland Park, Highwood, Deerfield, Lincolnshire, Mettawa, Green Oaks, Gurnee, North Chicago and Waukegan. The candidates are Mike Rummel (R), Steve Mandel (D), Laura Lambrecht (R), Sandy Hart (D), David Barkhausen (R),
Arlene Hickory (D) and Ann Maine (R).
Doors will open at 1:00. The program will start at 1:30 and end at 5:00. There will be 5 minute intermissions between each of the three debates. The Lake Forest High School is located at 1285 N. McKinley Rd. Lake Forest. Seating will be on a first come basis.
Partridge noted, "We are working to provide as much information as possible about the Congressional, State, and Lake County Board races for the communities. As not everyone will be able to attend the Debates, Patch will be blogging at the event, enabling people to participate online. Also the debates will be videotaped and shown on public access channel 17 and 19 in Lake Forest. The video will be posted on the website www.LWV-LFLB.org and on YouTube. In addition, there will be a voter guide available at www.lwvhp.org and www.lwv-lflb.org."
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan, political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Tom Lyons died of cancer earlier this year. After working for more than 30 years for Dold's company, Rose Pest, he received a...postcard from the Congressman! A $2.95 postcard...and he worked for Rose until the last few weeks when he was too sick to work anymore. Someone ask Dold if the hundred of thousands Lyons did to Dold's family fortune doesn't make him feel ashamed for being so cheap as to give Lyons family a postcard cheaper than a cheeseburger. Dold showed his true humanity-work for him til you drop dead and you got one brand-new postcard from Dold's family. I left the best part for last: on Chrsitmas Dold sends Rose Pest's employees...a postcard with his family picture hahahahha. Dold: cheaper than anyone you know.

Ask Dold about Rod...another tech who died of cancer. He bought the company car (used of course) while working for Rose. After the funeral, his widow needed money so Dold, the big-heart that he is, gave the widow...$2000 for the car! Less than what Rod paid and that left the widow wiht no car by the way...but she was in urgent need for money and Dold family saw an opportunity to make a good deal for themselves: get back the car and screw the widow...after all Rod only worked for Rose for 20 years...how did he dare die on the job? This is Dold the media doesn't know or care to know...I wish someone will ask Rose Pest's employees details about Dold...the public not only will vote him out of office but might burn Dold's homes in Kenilworth!

Dold's supporter (a/k/a Brad Schneider) -- The substance and tone of your posts is so inane, that you are actually generating support for Dold. While originally intended to mislead readers, your online moniker has turned out to be appropriate after all. Keep up the good work, and keep those fictionalized absurd stories about Rose Pest coming. Can't you fabricate some where Dold personally sprayed Agent Orange on his employees and their families? C'mon, you need to ratchet it up.

@chilawyer Here's some more fabrication: http://dockets.justia.com/docket/illinois/ilndce/1:2012cv06375/272742/
Those who support Dold will do so no matter what...filthy rich sticks with filthy rich and everything against Dold is "fabrication." Ask Dold about Tom Lyons and the white chevy car...go ahead :) Ask about Andrell Smith. Dave Smith. About overtime. About making business with City of Chicago ("O'Hare Airport) even though as a politician he is not alowed to make business with local governments...go ahead. Ask about the Christmas card that instead of "merry Christmas" or "happy holidays" or "seasons' greetings" it was always Dold's family portrait! Imagine the vanity of this man...to send his employees his family portrait every Christmas...like he is Bashar Assad of Syria :)

Are you still representing yourself in that matter, George? If so, perhaps Chilawyer can help you out with that.
What say you Chilawyer? Is it a match?

And no, i am not aware of Dold spraying Agent Orange...only Talstar, the cheapest insecticide on the market today...yet he charges customers $175 for using ...Talstar? Menard has better products :) Call Dold now @ 312-805-7724 and ask him why is he chearging people like he is using Tempo when in fact he is using Talstar...only slightly more lethal than water :) Dold is cheap, vain, a liar, a crook and very lucky the media doesn't have time for him...but then again Blagojevich thought so too, for a while...there's still time to be indicted on he knows what...damn well he knows :) His own employes are feeding me stuff because they know they will lose their jobs if word gets out so Dold...watch out buddy...your "house" is not in order and I know it. Be smart, resign, if they got Blago, they will get you too, eventually...no one is above the law, not even you, King Dold :)

check out #7...read it til you understand your Dold is over his head and the only reason he is in race is because no one knows about his deals with O'Hare. Unfortunately...is public info and once a reporter looks for it and finds it...Dold is toast.

Guido George won his state lawsuit against Dold-a Cook County Chancery Division judge ruled Dold's 2011 non-compete contract is not valid. As in the Federal case, George has a lawyer already. Too bad no verdict will come until long after election is over so right now Dold could claim innocence and "oh my God, I had no idea" :) then come clean after Nov 6 with no one paying atention anymore. Dold is one lucky sob :)

I am so impressed that someone has sued Dold. By your lights, everyone who is a defendant in a civil action must be guilty as charged. We lawyers have a trite but true saying, "Anybody can file a lawsuit."
Dold sending out Christmas cards with his family photo is one of your best rants. Many citizens and every politician does that (including mayors of Chicago). It's a way of personalizing the greeting and the sender. You seem like a reasonably intelligent guy, so surely you don't believe Dold designed the photo card just for his employees. What's he supposed to do to allay your paranoid denunciations, send photo cards to the world, but appease you by buying Hallmark just for his employees.
This Christmard photo card stuff is too petty. To truly help Dold, you've got to start making some really serious accusations.

Dold's supporter clearly is doing what Schneider is doing in his campaign. Doesn't Patch want to delve into what the Daily Herald calls Schneider's portrayal of Dold and his voting record: "Blatantly Dishonest." Doesn't Patch want to delve into what the Chicago Tribune Schneider's portrayal of Dold of a Tea Party Supporter: "laughable."
Isn't Patch asking why Schneider refused to appear with Dold at the League of Women Voters' forum in Round Lake last weekend? Will he actually appear at this next League of Women Voters' forum? What reason did he use for not appearing?
Isn't Patch asking what the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and the Daily Herald have all reported on? Schneider's refusal to release his income taxes and his refusal to explain why his consulting business earned no income since January of 2010? Isn't Patch interested as to why Schneider gave three different answers to the Tribune, Sun-Times and Daily Herald about this? Isn't Patch concerned that Schneider's portrayal of himself as a successful businessman who consults with multi-million dollar corporations and helps them grow is contradicted by his reports that he has earned "zero" income from these efforts?
I am very disappointed in Patch's coverage of the 10th Congressional Race. I expected better. The major newspapers coverage is far different than Patch. Why?
