Local Chef Chris Jones visits the Exchange Club of Grayslake
Grayslake High School Graduate Chef Chris Jones took some time out of his busy schedule to visit the Exchange Club of Grayslake on Thursday. Chef Jones is on break and preparing to move to California where he will begin work at Hampton Creek Foods . On Saturday October 20th, Chris will be the Executive Chef at the Vine for one special night to a sold out crowd. All proceeds from this event, Dinner for a Cause, will go to the Illinois Food Bank.
Every day the Northern Illinois Food Bank struggles to raise money to fight hunger throughout Illinois. This year on October 20th from 7-11pm, The Vine will join the fight to help end hunger here at home.
The Vine has proudly teamed up with Chris Jones, a Grayslake local who has been working hard to make a name for himself in the culinary world. Recently, the Chef de Cuisine at Moto in Chicago has had the pleasure of showing off his skills on Discovery Channels Future Foodsand Bravo TV's Top Chef. Two different worlds will collide in one night as Chris and The Vine amaze, astound and change the way Grayslake enjoys food through a seven course meal paired with five different wines.
“We chose to host this event to bring Chris's culinary style to Lake County,” says Mike Pruitt, owner of the Vine. “Some of the dishes and techniques that we will be bringing to the table have never been done or attempted in Lake County.”
The Vine will be selling only one hundred spots at $100 per ticket. All monies from the ticket sales will be donated to the Northern Illinois Food Bank-$10,000! This event is sold out!!!!
“We are excited to be able to raise money for such a great cause and help fight to end hunger in Illinois,” says Pruitt.
The Vine owes a big thanks to the support and help from: Heritage Wines, U.S. Foods, Moto, mberry, GLMV Jaycees and more...

This event was beyond anything I've ever seen in Lake County. The Chef was out among the diners personally serving the most unique and delicious food imaginable. The Vine's contribution of $10,000 to the food bank will provide 60,000 meals to the hungry in Lake County. Congratulations Chef Chris and Mike Pruitt / The Vine for making a difference in our world.
