“Pray continually...” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
As I was walking out the door my cell phone rang. I answered to hear my sons’s voice at the other end. “ Mom, I just heard from them and I got the job!” A feeling of relief and elation shot through me in a split second.
We had been praying for months to hear a message like that. I rehearsed those words so many times in my head, now my faith had manifested them to concrete being. It’s always so joyous to hear an answer to our prayers, especially an issue we have prayed about continually.
My son was job searching since last year. He was out of unemployment benefits, so it was an absolute delight for that prayer for a job to come through to be answered.
Since the beginning of his job search, each day and month, we continued to pray for God to open a door. Sometimes, he was close to the door opening only to have it close. Sometimes when he applied for something it seemed like such a good fit, but God obviously had something else in mind. We knew he couldn’t give us so we kept on praying.
God instructs us to stay consistent in prayer. It’s how we connect our faith with his power. Sometimes when the wait gets long and feelings of discouragement try to diminish our faith. The devil troubles our minds trying to make us believe nothing will ever change. That’s when constant, daily, prayer can give us hope and encouragement.
I ask God that whenever I pray the needs for myself or family to be met, he will bless any readers with that same need. As I pray for you and you pray for me, let’s keep asking no matter how long the battle has been.
Today we’ll stay in faith and ask once again.
