We are on the hunt for the best place to get French fries in the Grayslake, Lake Forest and Libertyville areas. It's time for our weekly Reader's Choice Chowdown Showdown competition.

You know the drill: All you need to do is sign into our site and then comment below with your vote. Feel free to elaborate on why this restaurant’s French fries are fabulous.

You have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to let us know the best place for fries.

On Wednesday morning, we will post the top three finalists in a poll — as determined by your votes in this article, on Facebook and on Twitter. Then it will be time to vote again for the weekly Chowdown Showdown champion.

Voting will continue through 5 p.m. Friday. We will post the Showdown winner first thing Saturday morning.

I gotta make a vote for Stadium Red Hots in Gurnee. Yes, they are frozen and come from a bag. But, they are super crispy and are served fresh from the oil.

I love a good french fry! My local favorites (along with the most amazing Buffalo wings anywhere, and I do mean ANYWHERE) are the curly fries at Franks for the Memories in Mundelein. Chief's Pub in Lake Forest has nice, crispy crinkle fries; my teenage son turned me on to dipping them in barbecue sauce instead of the usual ketchup. We need a Chick-fil-A around here because they have delicious waffle fries (among other things)! Edzo's in Evanston has a interesting variety. When in Highwood, try the sweet potato fries at Buffo's; you will become a fan.

Fodrak's fries!! Hot, fresh cut, just the right amount of salt and oil, tender but not squishy, flavorful and plentiful. It's nearly impossible to refrain from eating them in the car on the way home from carrying out!!

I know we're not voting on this, but for whomever might be reading, Fodrak's also has the best Greek sauce (aka tzatziki sauce) on the planet. I have tried to make my own, I have sampled it in umpteen restaurants, and Fodrak's is the best, bar NONE. And here's the most amazing part: a 12 oz. container of this heavenly yogurt and cucumber concoction is only slightly more expensive than a 6 oz. container of yogurt. MMMMMMMMMMM Fodrak's fries WITH tzatziki sauce.... Now I may have to pick up some on the way home from work

Fodrak's has the best french fries, they are fresh, have a little bit of the skin and perfectly seasoned. I use to drive from Arlington Hts just to eat the fries at Fodrak's.

Fodrack's has the best fries in my opinion. They are tasty with or without the sauce. If you have not yet tried them and you like fires, you need to check Fodrak's out.

Scooters in Lake Bluff! Fresh cut, skin on. They also have Greek fries, Scooter fries, Chili cheese fries made with homemade chili, and sweet potato fries with marshmallow dipping sauce!

Hands down the best fries I have had in the northwest suburbs are the ones made from fresh potatoes, not frozen, at Fodrak's. When I have an urge for fries I always head to Fodrak's.
