1. Golden Dragon Acrobats

 Where/When: James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, College of Lake County - Grayslake Campus; Saturday, Feb. 12, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Why Go: Experience breathtaking acrobatics, vibrant costumes, time-honored theatrics and traditional Chinese dance performances.

Pricing: $33/$28/$24 for general admission; $31/$26/$22 for seniors, staff, alumni; $16 for CLC students; $13 for children under 12.

 

2. An Evening with Ralph Vaughan Williams

Where/When: Ryerson Conservation Area, 21950 N. Riverwoods Rd., Riverwoods; Sunday, Feb. 13, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy an evening of music by composer Ralph Vaughan Williams and performed by Soprano Eleanor Ranney sponsored by the Friends of Ryerson Woods.

Pricing: $15 per person; $10 for friends of Ryerson Woods members.

 

3. Concert for St. Valentine's: Those Were the Days Radio Players with Lee Bassett and Kathryn Mann

Where/When: Grayslake Area Public Library; Sunday, Feb. 13, 2 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy a world-class performance of old time radio selections by the Those Were the Days Radio Players. Lee Bassett and Kathryn Mann will perform love songs by Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and George Gershwin. In honor of Valentine's Day, there will be chocolate too!

Pricing: Free.

 

4. Zurko Antiques & Collectibles

Where/When:  Lake County Fair Association; Saturday, Feb. 12, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 13, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Why Go?: Shop at the premier antique market in Grayslake.

Pricing: $6 for adults; free for children 12 and under.

 

5. Poetry in Motion

Where/When: College of Lake County - Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.; Saturday, Feb. 12, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Why Go?: A special performance of the spoken word in poetry to celebrate Black History Month.

Pricing: Free.

 

6. Bikerman and the Jewish Avenger: Love Hurts...A Lot!

Where/When: Metropolis Performing Arts Centre; 111 W. Campbell St., Arlington Heights; Saturday, Feb. 12, 10 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

Why Go?: This live professional theatrical performance is a Valentine's Day tradition. Hear two guys share their most bizarre but true stories about dating. This show is for adults only.

7. Patty Rodgers Art Gallery Show & Classical Guitar Concert 

Where/When: Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church; Sunday, Feb. 13, 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go?: See the one-person gallery of paintings by Patty Rodgers and listen to her classical guitar music. Taste special treats from The Vine in Grayslake and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Libertyville.

Pricing: A donation of $20 is suggested.

 

8. Frindle

Where/When: Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell St., Arlington Heights; Saturday, Feb. 12, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy a story about the power of words, imagination and creativity in this live theatrical performance. This show is appropriate for kids in grades 4 - 8.
