Grayslake Salutes Our Military

  • When: Sunday, Jan. 8, 1 - 4 p.m.
  • Where:Oasis -- Grayslake Youth Center, 151 Hawley St, Grayslake
  • Why Go: The community of Grayslake will be welcoming home ALL returning military and veterans at a celebration designed to give them and their families hometown hugs as well as having resources available for educational and employment networking. Every civic and municipal group in the town of Grayslake will be represented, as well as hundreds of folks from the community who just want to say "Thanks." There will be food, music, fun games for kids and most importantly, hugs for our heroes.

Family Mosaic Fun

  • When: Sunday, Jan. 8, 6 - 9 p.m.
  • Where: Stirling Hall, 60 E. Old Mill Road, Lake Forest
  • Why Go: oin artists Lori Rozdolsky and Janet Austin in making a tile piece and become a part of Lori's giant Florida mosaic.Come get down and dirty with clay and enjoy some refreshments while you do! We will make tiles and reliefs of lizards, leaves, shells, starfish and sand dollars. Be a part of the great 36-foot permanent mosaic installation on Anna Maria Island.
    Bring your kids and the whole family!

BYOB Adult Painting Class

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 7, 7 - 10 p.m.
  • Where: Artist @ Heart, 344 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville
  • Why Go: Come join us for BYOB Adult Painting Class! Bring your own drinks, select a canvas and start painting. Get those creative juices flowing. Artists Vicki Tucker and David Tucker will be on hand to help you create! Bring your friends, spouse, neighbor or just yourself for a fun filled evening.

Improv Playhouse Comedy Troupe "Lost Not Stolen" Show

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 7, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.
  • Where: Improv Playhouse, 735 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville
  • Why Go: This is a family friendly sketch and games based show in the style of "Whose Line..." and Chicago Improv featuring the hilarious Improv Comedy Troupe "Lost Not Stolen."
  • Fee: $7 general admission at the door; $5 for Improv Playhouse students.

Northbrook Originals Art Show

  • When: Jan. 3 through Jan. 31, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Where: Northbrook Public Library, 1201 Cedar Lane, Northbrook
  • Why Go: The Northbrook Arts Commission in collaboration with the Northbrook Public Library is pleased to present the ninth annual Northbrook only Artists Juried exhibit “Art is the Heart of Northbrook.” The exhibit opened Jan. 3. This Northbrook Originals Art Display has always been a popular event. The event features a wonderful exhibition of artwork from photography and painting to ceramics and mixed media. The display of the juried Artists will be on exhibit at the library thru Tues. Jan. 31.
