2. Three Ways to Roll - One Goal: the American Cancer Society's 40th Annual Walk
Where / When: Independence Grove, 8 a.m., Sunday, May 15.
Why Go?: Walk 5 miles, bike 15 miles or skate 10 miles to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Opening ceremony at 9 a.m., closing ceremony at noon followed by a cook-out and live entertainment for all participants.
Pricing: $15 registration fee for all participants ages 18 or older; $100 minimum recommended funds raised
3. Boy Scout Troop 96 16th Annual Spaghetti Dinner
Where / When: St. Gilbert School, Parish Center; 4 - 7 p.m., Saturday, May 14.
Why Go?: Dinner, dessert, door prizes. Proceeds support the Boy Scouts.
Pricing: $6 for adults; $3 for children 5 - 12; Free for children under 5
4. Smith Nature Symposium - Benefit Dinner, Dessert, Silent Auction and Keynote Address
Where/When: Ryerson Woods Conservation Area, 21950 N. Riverwoods Rd., Riverwoods; 5:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday (May 14).
Why Go?: The keynote speaker is Bill Browning, one of the foremost thinkers for sustainable designs in the green building and real estate industry. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Ryerson Woods and their education and preservation efforts.
Pricing: $125 per adult for entire event; $25 per person for dessert and keynote address only
5. Liberty Prairie Conservancy Prairie Pedal
Where/When: Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, 1475 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake; 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday (May 15).
Why Go: Spend the day outdoors at Lake County's favorite bike event. Pedal along any of the 4, 9, 12 and 27 mile routes through breathtaking open spaces. Raffles, music, massages, educational activities, lunch and Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
Pricing: $25 for adults; $15 for kids ages 6 - 17; free for children under 6
6. Lake County Community Concert
Where/When: Waukegan High School, Orlin Trapp Auditorium, 2325 Brookside Ave., Waukegan; 3 - 5 p.m. Sunday (May 15).
Why Go?: Hear the Dallas Brass perform classical masterpieces, Dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood and patriotic music for audiences of all ages.
