Ashley Newman of Hainesville got to attend Monday's Presidential Inauguration in Washington D.C. and shared some of her photos with Patch.

Newman, a graduate of Grayslake Central High School, attends Campbellsville University in Kentucky. She and a group of Sociology Club students set out on their trip of a lifetime Saturday and will return Thursday after taking in the sights.

No matter who you supported, this a significant moment in history. Ashley makes me very proud to be an American and her father. What a great opportunity. Thank you Campbellsville University.
