Planet Beach Hosts PADS Benefit

Bring in bag of donations and bag some spa bucks.

Planet Beach Contempo Spa in Grayslake is stepping up to help a local PADS shelter in need of men’s clothing.

"This event is a win/win for customers and the community. We want customers to give from the heart and to know that the people really need what we provide to them,” said owner Judy Abate. Abate has been a volunteer and supporter of the United Presbyterian Church PADS in Grayslake for 15 years.

Customers who bring in a bag of donations through January 27will receive $5 in spa bucks that can be used towards products or services.  There will be a Customer Appreciation party on the 27 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Items needed:

  • New men’s white socks
  • New men’s underwear
  • New men’s plain white t-shirts
  • New men’s sweatshirts
  • New thermal tops and bottoms
  • Gently used men’s jackets
  • Microwave popcorn

People who stay at the PADS shelter are brought from the main center in Waukegan, walk-in from the street or are dropped off from the local area.  Locations are set up to serve specific groups. The United Presbyterian PADS has one large room and serves men. Additional shelter information  can be found at www.lakecountypads.org

“Once a month we host a Customer Appreciation day.  We have a perspective of giving back, both globally and locally,” said Abate. In December Planet Beach collected four large boxes of donations for an African orphanage.

To donate, visit Planet Beach Contempo Spa at 100 S. Atkinson (across from Piggly Wiggly), Grayslake or call (847) 223-4386.
