Firefighters Battle Blaze At 'Community Thrift Store'
Several area fire departments responded to a blaze at the Community Thrift Store at 900 E. Main St. in East Dundee Thursday. The store is located at the corner of Route 25 and Route 72. Video of the aftermath of the fire is attached to this story.
Naperville
Four Woman Arrested in Prostitution Sting
Four women were arrested and charged with prostitution at a Naperville hotel Friday after the Naperville Police Department participated in the FBI’s “Operation Cross County VI,” a nationwide crackdown on child sex trafficking.
“Even though our arrests didn’t net any children involved in prostitution, it was under that particular operation,” Naperville Police Department Sgt. Gregg Bell said. “In our cases, all of the individuals that were arrested were all adults.”
Police said Sharon Lynn Romaine, 50, of Vernon Hills; Melissa Sue Ronczkowski, 23, of Bolingbrook; and Palatine residents Tara Ann Zagone, 19, and Sherry Ann Cameron, 33, were arrested Friday at a hotel in the 1800 block of Diehl Road.
Crystal Lake
Brothers Charged With Beating Roommate
Crystal Lake Police charged three brothers with mob action and domestic battery after they allegedly beat up a roommate.
Terry W. Brennan, of Spring Grove, and Timothy P. Brennan, of Carpentersville, on June 2 visited the apartment of their older brother, Edward, who lives at 215 Uteg St. - B, Crystal Lake.
While there, Edward's 32-year-old roommate allegedly did not welcome the brothers' visit, police said. A fight broke out among the men, and the brothers allegedly attacked the roommate.
Des Plaines
Dogs From Cruelty Incident Up For Adoption
Three dogs taken into custody by police after multiple witnesses reported seeing a Des Plaines man punching one of the dogs in front of his residence on June 7 are transitioning to new homes.
James Robert Wesolaski, 51, of Des Plaines, was charged with aggravated cruelty, and, told police, according to the report, he got into a fight with his dog because it ran out the front door, and he said, “I’m done being nice.”
A judge ordered the dogs to be surrendered to Des Plaines police animal control on June 19, and they have since been matched with a nonprofit rescue organization that specializes in small dogs, Chris’ Rescue Angels, based in Missouri.
Grayslake
New Police Chief Named
The search for a new Chief of Police in Grayslake is over, as Mayor Rhett Taylor has announced he will recommend Glenview's Phillip Perlini for the job.
Perlini, currently Deputy Chief of Police for Glenview, has more than 32 years experience in law enforcement, according to a statement from the Village of Grayslake.
Niles
Craigslist Scam Investigated
A man living in the 7800 block of Oconto, Niles, advertised furniture for sale on Craigslist for $1,000.
On June 25, a buyer contacted the seller and said he would send a check in the amount of $2,180, and he asked that the seller refund the extra $1,180 to someone in Georgia. The seller's bank seized the check as counterfeit. Police are investigating.
