Save-A-Pet Helps Reunite Long-Lost Dog with Owner

Sadie the teacup Yorkie was happily reunited with her owner on Oct. 17 with the help of Save-A-Pet, which was able to scan the dog's microchip.

A teacup Yorkie reported stolen from its owners' Roscoe Village yard in 2010 was happily reunited with its owner Wednesday thanks to the dog's microchip, which Save-A-Pet in Grayslake was able to scan, reported nbcchicago.com.

According to news reports, "Sadie" was found in poor condition at night, near a busy intersection in Grayslake. The pup's rescuer brought her to Save-A-Pet no-kill shelter and adoption center, where the microchip was scanned.

"We are honored to be able to play a part in reuniting Sadie with her owner after 2.5 years! This amazing story is a great example of how important it is to have your pets microchipped. It isn't expensive and can make all the difference," wrote Save-A-Pet staff on their Facebook page.

Sadie's owner had also used Lost Dogs Illinois to help locate her.
