Illinois is drowning in a near bankrupt pension fund debt and unpaid bills. Yet, the Democrats want to discuss same sex marriage and gun bans instead. Illinois lacks leadership on both sides of the aisle and makes the state the laughing stock of the entire country. Unfortunately, for the citizens of Illinois, this is no laughing matter. It appears Quinn, Cullerton, and Madigan have no intentions of dealing with the financial crisis. They are intent on continuing to distract from the real issues by going after emotionally charged non-issues. Related Articles:

- Cardinal George, other religious leaders decry "serious danger" of gay marriage
"The ongoing attempts to alter the definition of marriage in civil law are full of serious danger, primarily by degrading the cultural understanding of marriage to an emotional bond between any two adults and by giving rise to a profound interference with the exercise of religious freedom for those persons and religious institutions whose faith and doctrine recognize the spiritual foundation of marriage as an authorized union between a man and a woman," George and other religious leaders wrote in a letter to lawmakers.
- URGENT: Illinois Senate Expected to Vote on Gun and Magazine Ban as Early as This Afternoon
As the Illinois Senate convenes this afternoon for its Lame Duck session, anti-gun legislators led by Senate President John Cullerton and backed by Governor Patrick Quinn (D) are deceptively trying to sneak through a sweeping draconian gun and magazine ban in Springfield. In their last days as lawmakers (some were defeated for reelection and others retiring), these legislators are attempting to quietly trample on the rights of all law-abiding gun owners in Illinois. The many restrictions contained in this legislation are subject to changes, however, this latest attack on your Second Amendment rights as currently drafted would turn law-abiding owners into felons for possession of nearly all common semi-automatic firearms or detachable magazines. Not only would such a ban include classic firearms like the 1911 and common handguns like Glocks, this ban would also outlaw common hunting guns like the Ruger 10/22 and Remington 740 series.
