Don’t forget to register for the softball tournament by Monday, 8/27 to receive free commemorative t-shirts for you and your teammates! We do have an at-large team of individually registered people forming so if you don’t have a team, we can place you on one! Download a mail-in registration form or visit our site to be added to the at-large team.
Home Run for Education is a coed 14-inch softball tournament benefiting the D46 Foundation. The single-elimination tournament will begin in Central Park at 9am and continue until one team stands victorious! The event will be followed by an awards ceremony at the Vine on Center St in downtown Grayslake.
Home Run for Education is open to all members of the community who are 18 years of age or older. You do not need to be a D46 parent to participate! Donations raised through Home Run for Education help support:
- Academic Enrichment Scholarship Fund for participation in Science Olympiad and Scholastic Bowl
- Classroom Mini-Grants
- D46 Destination ImagiNation
- Hovercraft Project
Each team must raise a minimum of $400 in pledges by the day of the event to participate. Teams are required to make a pledge deposit of $200 upon registration. The remaining balance of $200 and any additional funds raised in excess of $400 are due the day of the event. Don’t have a team? Download a mail-in registration form or visit our site to be added to an at-large team.
Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraising team among teams raising in excess of $800 and a cash prize of $600 will be awarded to the championship team. Team benefits include:
- Tournament entry for 10-15 players
- Commemorative t-shirts for each team player on teams who register by August 27
- Voucher for one free beverage at the Vine (limitations may apply)

Considering this was a chance to help local kids, I really wish that someone would've posted this story sooner than six days before the registration deadline.
I mean, it's not easy to round up $400 or more in pledges for some people in less than a week.
In the future, I hope these things are announced much farther in advance, so that the kids in D46 can have more support.

My husband is registering a team for this. They have 10 players and have opted to just pledge for themselves. Each player is making a pledge of $40 to meet the minimum requirement of $400. If you don't have time to round up pledges, you can always do it that way.
