CLC offers CNC Operator career information sessions
GRAYSLAKE – The College of Lake County will offer three information sessions in June and July for students interested in beginning an exciting career as a CNC Operator in the field of Computerized Numerical Control (CNC).
Through a partnership with CLC Adult Basic Education, the CNC department is offering a certificate program that provides additional math and English support with an Adult Education instructor in the classroom. The certificate can be completed in three semesters (9 credit hours total). Students take the following technical courses: Machine Trades Blueprint Reading, Machining Principles, CNC Operations and OSHA Safety.
National employment projections for Computer Controlled Machine Tool Operators indicate a 19 percent growth, and state employment projections indicate an 8 percent growth in for 2008-2018. In Illinois, CNC operators earn an average of $35,320 per year. National and state hourly wages average $12-$16. Students completing the CLC certificate will have the opportunity to earn credentials as a CNC Mill and Lathe Operator.
Three information sessions will be held in June and July to explain the program and the career opportunities. An information session will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 29 in room 008 at the CLC Lakeshore Campus, 33 N. Genesee St., Waukegan. Two sessions will be offered at the Grayslake campus in room T124, 19351 W. Washington St. -- 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 and 6 p.m. on Monday, July 9.

The College of Lake County is a community college and adult education center, with its largest campus located in Grayslake. Associate's degree programs and career education courses are offered on this campus, and most classes transfer to four-year universities. ESL programs are also offered.
