Historical Society to Host Reminiscing Sessions, Penny Candy Sale

Want to reminisce about your high school years? Stop by the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum on Saturday!

Grayslake Historical Society members will host two "I remember when" reminisce sessions on Saturday, Sept. 28, in  the community room of the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake.

The first session, to be held in the morning, will be a resumption of the society's popular reminisce sessions. People are invited to share their memories of their Grayslake area 4-H experiences during the session that will begin at 10 a.m. Past reminisce sessions have included recollections of teen hangouts in the village, holiday memories and other topics.

The second session hosted by the society Saturday will be an open house and reminisce session as part of the homecoming weekend activities for Grayslake North and Central high schools that weekend. This session will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Both high schools' alumni, friends and former teachers are invited to attend and share memories.

There are no other specific homecoming activities for either school scheduled during the open house.

Another attraction at the museum during Homecoming week will be the annual penny candy sale Sept. 25-28. The candy counter from the old Grayslake Dime Store will be stocked with old-fashioned candy, which will sell for a penny each. There is a limit of five per customer.

Everyone is invited to visit  the museum displays and to reminisce about 4-H activities and high school memories. Refreshments will be served.
