CCU Sponsor Offers Six $1,500.00 Scholarships

Applications for scholarship must be received by December 31, 2013

 

Grayslake, IL, August 27, 2013:  Consumers Credit Union‘s sponsor, Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA), (CCU; $604 M. Waukegan, IL) is extending the opportunity for six (6) high school seniors to receive scholarships if they are on pace to graduate by Spring 2014.  The deadline to apply is the end of the current calendar year, leaving ample time for interested students to apply.

“Providing educational opportunities for our youth is extremely important for the local community,” noted Liz Oldham, Consumers Cooperative Association President.  “It’s often said that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders – and when they succeed, society thrives.  This is a key reason offering educational opportunities for our young people is one of our top priorities.”

Applications are available at area high schools, as well as at all six CCU locations and online at www.myconsumers.org.  Valid applications must include the student’s official high school transcript through their junior year, along with a copy of their first semester grades from the current academic year.  All applications must be received by December 31, 2013. 

 

Applicants will be evaluated in the following categories:  academic performance, financial need and leadership abilities, including community involvement. High school students scheduled to graduate by the spring of 2014, are eligible to apply for one of the $1500.00 scholarships, providing the applicant and/or parent/guardian has been a Member of Consumers Credit Union for a minimum of one (1) year. Applicants must complete an application and submit a non-returnable photo.  Those students awarded scholarships will be featured in an upcoming issue of CCU’s newsletter, The Reporter, and will be recognized at the credit union’s Annual Meeting on March 14, 2014.
