AARP to Host Driver Safety Program at Grayslake Fire Station

All ages are welcome, but this AARP driver safety course, to be held Oct. 11 and 12 at Grayslake Fire Station #1, is designed for motorists 50 and older.

On Thursday and Friday, AARP will be offering a driver safety program at Grayslake Fire Station #1, located at 160 Hawley St., in downtown Grayslake.

The course runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. All ages are welcome but this course is designed for motorists age 50 and older.

A completion certificate is awarded to each student at the end of the course.  This certificate entitles the motorists to an automobile insurance discount for three years, depending on the motorist’ driving record. There are also no driving requirements or graded tests required for this course.

Since 1979, the AARP has helped more than 13 million drivers learn safety strategies and adapt to physical and cognitive changes related to aging. The course teaches valuable defensive driving skills and provides a refresher of the rules of the road. Participants may also qualify for an automobile insurance discount by completing the classroom course.
