Arbor Day Celebration at Rollins Savanna Forest Preserve in Grayslake

Celebrate Arbor Day in Grayslake.

Looking for a beautiful tree for your home or business but don't know a maple from a magnolia? Concerned about the threat of invasive species to trees in your neighborhood?

Join us for the Arbor Day Celebration at Rollins Savanna Forest Preserve in Grayslake on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Twenty assorted trees will be raffled off every hour. One free raffle ticket to win a tree will be distributed to each adult attending.

The trees are part of a USDA Forest Service grant, which also is providing about 2,000 trees to the Lake County Forest Preserves for planting throughout county forest preserves.

Forestry staff will be available at the event to answer your questions about how to select trees most likely to thrive at your site. Demonstrations and discussions on tree planting, care and site selection, and prevention and treatment of pests such as the emerald ash borer will be repeated throughout the event.
