Coach: Jen Starzec 'Pushes Herself to do Her Best'

Jimmy Centella shares his thoughts about the Grayslake Central sophomore.

Today, we shared the story of Jen Starzec, a Grayslake Central High School sophomore who suffered a spinal cord injury called Transverse Myelitis that left her paralyzed.

She continues to fight back from the injury and now runs cross country at GCHS.

Just what did Jimmy Centella, head cross country coach at Grayslake Central High School, have to say about Jen? Read on:

"Jen is one of the most determined athletes I have coached.

Regardless of how she is feeling she always pushes herself to do her best. On those days when her body is fighting against her, I can see that frustration she feels.

This frustration of her deep desire to compete and improve as an athlete. That is something that a coach wants in an athlete and Jen has that."
