The Round Lake Area Exchange Club and NICASA is proud to announce U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Kathryn Nettleton as November's Hometown Hero.
Nettleton is an 18-year resident of Round Lake Beach, a member of the Fox Lake American Legion and is a 2009 graduate of Grayslake North High School. Nettleton was registered for this honor by her mother, Nancee also of Round Lake Beach.
Nettleton has served for almost three years and has earned several accommodations including National Defense Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Award, Global War on Terrorism medals and Air Force Training Ribbon. She is currently stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
All heroes receive a "Hanging with the Heroes" care package delivered with a personalized T-shirt donated by Artrageous of Hainesville, a piece of home, and letters from Round Lake Area School District 116 students.
With the support of this month's sponsor, NICASA, Nettleton’s care package will also include chips, snacks, crackers, candies and personal requested items.
The Round Lake Area Exchange Club will present a plaque to Nettleton and her family on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 a.m. at Panera Bread in Round Lake Beach.
Any and all military personnel serving overseas or in the United States from any of the Round Lake Areas, Hainesville, Fox Lake or Ingleside qualify for the program.
If you have a neighbor, family member, friend, employee, employer, etc. serving in the military, register them by going to www.rlaexchange.org/hero. Five minutes is all it takes. We look forward to announcing the December Hometown Hero.
