Grayslake Aquatic Center Gets 5 Stars

The Grayslake Aquatic Center lifeguards and maintenance staff is tops in safety and performance.

A recent unannounced performance audit of the Esper A. Petersen Foundation Family Aquatic Center in Grayslake didn't ruffle the feathers of the professional staff, who always make it their goal to put the safety of guests first.

The aquatic center, operated by the Village of Grayslake, is the recipient of the prestigious Five Star Award from the Starfish Aquatics Institute (SAI), according to a village press release.

Leslie Donavan, President of SAI, said very few aquatic facilities qualify to receive this honor. "It represents a tremendous commitment to safety and training, and exceptional performance by the lifeguard staff on duty at the time."

The local lifeguards who contributed to the achievement of the Five Star Award include Megan Mertins, Bryan Clancy, Katherine Wiacek, Ellyn Ahlemeyer, Caleb Munk, and Kevin Peloza. The managers on duty during the safety audit were General Manager Shayna Mortensen and Pool Managers Kelly Jay and Amy Drangines.

The Village of Grayslake is proud to offer the customers of the Esper A. Petersen Foundation Family Aquatic Center a Five Star facility," said Mayor Rhett Taylor. "Safety is by far the most important service we provide to the many families that visit our facility each summer."
