Ice Skate at Soldier Field Sunday

Chicagoland residents are invited to take to the ice at Soldier Field like the pros—the day after the Chicago Blackhawks face the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It’s time to dust off and lace up the ice skates for this Sunday, March 2 at Skate Soldier Field.

Advocate Children’s Hospital is offering friends of the hospital and the Chicagoland communities a unique opportunity to skate at Soldier Field the day after the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks face the Penguins.

The ice rink is set up in the middle of Soldier Field as part of the 2014 National Hockey League (NHL) Stadium Series, an ongoing series of four outdoor NHL games across the country. Proceeds from the event will benefit the young patients and their family members of Advocate Children’s Hospital.

“We are so pleased to be able to provide our friends with this unique opportunity. We are one of a select group of non-profit organizations in the city presented with the chance to skate on the same ice that the Blackhawks will skate on in the much-anticipated game against the Penguins,” said Anedra Kerr, Vice President of Development for Advocate Children’s Hospital. “We are so grateful to our community for supporting us through this exciting event.”

Interested participants can purchase one hour of skate time either at 3:30 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. for $100 for adults and $50 for children 10 years old and under. Those who are taking to the ice will have a chance to warm up in the Soldier Field hospitality suite for hot beverages and stadium food.
