Library, Village Teaming Up for 'Green Series'

"The foundation for this series is to save residents in the Grayslake area money, help them foster a healthier lifestyle and improve our environment," said Grayslake Environmental Stewardship Committee Member Mary Klees.

The Grayslake Area Public Library is partnering with the Village of Grayslake to bring a truly unique experience created especially for the Grayslake area community: The Green Series.

The Green Series is designed to provide opportunities for learning about the financial, health and environmental benefits of sustainable practices. Programs on topics ranging from healthier low-cost gardening, saving money on water and energy bills, and healthier food sources will be presented at the library on the third Wednesday of the month starting in April.

The first in the series “Attracting Birds to Your Backyard,” by Lake to Prairie, a local chapter of Wild Ones, will be held Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. This program will cover the what, why and how of attracting birds to your yard with native plants.
