New Attractions at Goebbert's Fall Festival

The popular fall retreat in South Barrington opens today.

Goebbert's Farm and Garden Center holds its extremely popular Fall Festival each year, drawing thousands of visitors from late September through Halloween.

This year there's even more to look forward to. Patch contated Goebbert's Market Manager Holly Peterson to ask her about what the community can expect this season.

The Fall Festival starts on Saturday, September 22nd and runs through Wednesday, October 31st.  Our attractions are open from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily with the market staying open until 7 p.m.  during the week (Monday - Friday).

Is there anything new this year?

In 2012, we have added an area called "Little Farmer's Play Yard" which is accessible through Animal Land. When you purchase a ticket for Animal Land which includes the animals, Giraffe Barn, Pumpkin Eating Dinosaur and pig races on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, you will also gain access to Little Farmer's Play Yard which has the corn stalk maze, straw town maze, pumpkin tunnel, and our brand new playground added during the summer.

What are some of the favorite activities?

One of our favorite attractions is the Giraffe Barn. It allows you to have an up close experience with this beautiful animal and feed them. Pony rides are always big for the kids as well as our jumping pillow. It's a huge inflatable pillow that the young ones can jump around on.

Tell me about the hayride. Is it scary for kids? Where does it take you?

Our wagon ride takes you through the corn stalks and around parts of the property and through an old haunted barn. There's nothing that jumps out at you or is too gory - just some good old fashioned clean fun.

Is there anything special at Goebbert's Fall Festival that people may not know about?

During the fall season, we still carry a wide variety of produce including potatoes, peppers, apples, onions and more that are available in the market.

We also have camel rides as well as a Haunted House that is appropriate for school aged children. There's 10 haunted rooms with no live people, just some spooky scenes.

We also make our own homemade fudge and we carry about 10 different flavors including rocky road, chocolate peanut butter, mint chocolate and chocolate. You can't leave without trying the apple cider donuts that are made fresh daily at our location in Hampshire.
