New Support Group For Parents Of Newborns

United Protestant Church in Grayslake offers support and encouragement for moms, dads and their babies, beginning June 16.

Parents of newborns often are overcome with love for their baby and overjoyed to be a family, but may be overwhelmed with questions and concerns. The in Grayslake will hold its first meeting of a new support group for parents of newborns called “Sweet Steps.” 

The group will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. this Thursday, June 16 at the church, located at 54 S. Whitney Street, Grayslake.

All parents and their newborn children, whether their first or subsequent child, are welcome to attend. The group will be hosted by Lexi and Spencer Craig and their newborn Charlie, and participants will have the opportunity to share stories, ideas and light refreshments. Both parents are invited to attend and are welcome to bring their baby along.

Senior Pastor Rev. David Russell said connecting parents with one another can be a great source of support in this new group.

"We think the parents will support one another and give ideas to each other," he said. "They will be a resource for each other."

The United Protestant Church holds Sunday worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with Christian education for all at 9:15. Childcare is available all morning. The United Protestant Church of Grayslake is made up of two denominations: the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ.
