Round Lake Area to Welcome Home Soldier and GNHS Grad

U.S. Army Ranger John Mikrut, a 2010 graduate of Grayslake Central High School, will get a heroes welcome Saturday from the Round Lake area.

U.S. Army Specialist John Mikrut, a 2010 Grayslake North High School graduate, will be returning home from his first Ranger deployment.

At 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, Mikrut will be escorted from his parent's home in Grant Township to Lakes Bowl at 601 Railroad Avenue (Route 134) in Round Lake by the Northern Illinois Warriors' Watch Riders.

Mikrut will be greeted by his hometown Mayor Rich Hill of Round Lake Beach, as well as organization members where he has volunteered including: Village of Round Lake Beach Shop with a Cop, Frontline Street Intervention, Round Lake Area Exchange Club and Village of Round Lake Park Police Department Shop with a Cop.

The family invites the community to come out and welcome home this Round Lake Beach homegrown Ranger.

Mikrut is currently stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in the Washington state.
