Signatures for Plastic Bag Ban Being Delivered to Governor Quinn

12-year-old Abby Goldberg will deliver her more than 154,000 petitions to Governor Pat Quinn in an effort to get him to veto a bill that would ultimately block plastic bag bans.

The Prairie Crossing Student will spend her Tuesday in downtown Chicago where she hopes to meet with Governor Pat Quinn and present her petition to veto SB 3442, a bill that would make it illegal for towns across Illinois to create bans on plastic bags.

Abby Goldberg began the petition as part of her 7th grade culminating project at PCCS . But, Goldberg said, she realized the faced a bigger fight: big government.

Goldberg set her petition on Change.org where as of July 2 had collected 154,474 signatures against the bill.
