Tim Kelly Takes Helm Of Claims Management at Sandner Group

Grayslake resident Timothy Kelly has been named President - Claims Management at The Sandner Group, where he will oversee the loss control and claim services operation. In addition to leading those service teams, Kelly will also focus on new business development, staff development, financial budgeting and planning.

"The Sandner Group is a group of companies that specializes in a variety of areas of insurance," said Kelly. "We create, manage and service self-insured trusts mainly for school districts so they can pool their risks."

The areas covered include things like workers compensation, fire loss, crime loss and general liabilty. "We also have a tradional insurance program for landlords who are providing insurance for low income housing," he said.

"My group includes loss control to focus on preventing loss from happening in the first place," said Kelly, 47. "I'm excited about this position because it is such a varied job. It allows me to utilize my entire background in insurance."

"This new role is definitely a milestone for me," he added. "It is probably the most exciting career opportunity that I've had in my 24-year career in insurance. I'll get to work in so many different facets all at once."

He has lived in Grayslake since last August. Prior to that, lived in Chicago and Libertyville. 

"Now I have the best of both worlds," Kelly said. "I live in beautiful Lake County and commute into the city."

When not at work, he is indulging in one of his other passions - cooking and motorcycles.

"My girlfriend Susan Edmondson owns Someone's in the Kitchen in Libertyville. I help out and am involved with that on occassion," Kelly said. "It gives me an outlet for my cooking passion. Our customer base comes from Grayslake, Libertyville and throughout Lake County."

He is also an avid motorcyclist and loves taking day trips on his Triumph Thunderbird. He and Susan live in Grayslake with their two teenage boys.
