Grayslake Under a Blanket of Snow

A reminder of snow-related ordinanaces for the Village of Grayslake.

Here is a reminder of weather-related ordinances and expectations for the .

  • Parking is prohibited on village streets after a snowfall of two or more inches, until snow removal operations are complete. Vehicles parked in the street may be ticketed or towed.
  • Abutting sidewalks of a home or apartment building must be cleared of snow by residents within 24 hours of the snowfall.
  • Village ordinance prohibits any person from depositing snow back into the street from their driveways. Snow should be shoveled onto an adjacent parkway and not back onto the street.
  • The Village plows only municipally-owned streets. Roads such as Alleghany Road (South of Route 120), Casey Road, Center Street (Route 83 to Route 45), Rollins Road and Washington Street are plowed by the Lake County Division of Transportation. Route 45, Route 83 (Barron Boulevard), Route 120 (Belvidere Road), and Route 137 are plowed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
