Whiz Kids: Kaitlyn Rosploch

Grayslake North clarinet player was selected for a performance at Carnegie Hall.

Kaitlyn (Kaity) Rosploch, a student at Grayslake North High School, was selected for the 2011 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.  She performed as part of the Honors Band as a Clarinetist.  Participation in the Honors Band is limited to the highest rated high school performers from across North America.

Rosploch auditioned in the Fall of 2010 for the Honors Performance Series and was accepted after a review by the Selection Board committee. Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in her application and audition recording, according to a release from District 127. Rosploch joined other performers from the United States and Canada for a special performance at world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement.

Rosploch studies music with Candace Edstrand and is a member of The Grayslake North Concert Band. Additionally, she is active as the Captain of the Marching Knights Color guard and Winter Guard Team, and also is a catechist helper at Prince of Peace Church.

Finalists came together this week on February 16 for five days in New York City to have the opportunity to learn from Conductor Jeffrey Grogan, work with other Finalists, and get a taste of New York City.  On February 19, they performed before the public and specially-invited representatives from collegiate music programs.

The Honors Performance Series was created to showcase accomplished individual high school performers by allowing them to study under master conductors and perform in the celebrated venue, Carnegie Hall. Learn more by visiting www.honorsperformance.org.
