In a library far, far away...

Come celebrate literacy and everything Star Wars.

In celebration of the 1st annual Star Wars Reads Day, the Grayslake Area Public Library invites you to attend everything Star Wars on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Register today to save a spot and make a lightsaber for children in grades 1 through 6 at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:30 am.

Kids can get their picture taken with a Star Wars character from 1 to 2 p.m.

We will have arts and crafts, prize drawings, origami and so much more at this all day event. Make an origami Yoda or enter our Star Wars Reads Day raffle. Kids can check out a Star Wars book and get a surprise at the Youth Reference Desk.

Feel free to wear your Jedi robes. And may the force be with you.

Star Wars Reads Day is a national initiative that celebrates reading and the popular “Star Wars” movie series created by George Lucas. The event was created by Lucasfilm and its publishing partners: Abrams, Chronicle Books, Dark Horse, Del Rey, DK Publishing, Random House Audio, Scholastic, Titan Magazines and Workman. This is the first time a group of publishers have worked together on such a massive event.
