The 11th season of the Early Music Series at the Byron Colby Barn opens at 4 p.m. on Nov. 11 with a special performance by Ars Antigua.

Celebrate the 60th birthday of David Schrader, renowned harpsichord musician, performing his favorite repertoire from the Renaissance through Classical eras with Ars Antigua.

WFMT (98.7), Chicago’s fine arts and classical radio station, will be at the Byron Colby Barn to record Ars Antigua’s performance to be broadcast to listeners throughout Chicagoland.

The Early Music Series at the Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake features highly acclaimed musicians performing music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods.

The beautifully restored 110 year old Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake is a wonderful setting for Early Music, as its acoustics resemble the historical settings for which this music was composed.

Admission to individual Early Music concerts is $18 for adults, and is available at the door only (cash or check). Children under 16 are admitted free.

Season tickets to all six performances in the Early Music Series can be purchased online for $90 per person at www.prairiecrossing.com/bcbarn.

100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America at the Byron Colby Barn.

Daisy’s Girls: Camping with Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low will be presented at noon on Sunday, Nov. 11. Come experience an entertaining and educational historic portrayal, adapted and performed by Betsey Means of Womanlore: Performing Women in History.

Photographs will be available with Juliette Gordon Low as portrayed by Betsey Means, or with a life-size cut-out available on loan thanks to the generosity of the Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum.

The Byron Colby Barn is located at 1561 Jones Point Road in Grayslake, inside the Prairie Crossing conservation community.
