Jutta & the Hi-Dukes to Perform Sunday at Grayslake Library

The free concert will be held at 3 p.m. Jan. 12.

The Grayslake Area Public Library is excited to have Jutta & the Hi-Dukes perform this Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 from 3-4 p.m. This concert is free and all ages are welcome.

Grab the kids, your spouse, your roommate or just bring yourself. This high-energy band will help shake off those winter blues and get your blood flowing from head to toe. Jutta & the Hi-Dukes have authentic chutzpah and make music from around the world come alive here in Grayslake.

This Evanston-based band will take you on an interactive musical tour of two continents! From hot Balkan-Gypsy grooves to transcendent medieval Danish songs, from exotic Greek "Blues" to familiar American Klezmer and Dixieland dance tunes, this wildly eclectic dance band serves up delicious "sole" food for every taste, and takes you on an exciting worldbeat dance tour.

Two-part harmonies sung in over 20 languages enhance their unique instrumentation that uses modern acoustic instruments alongside of traditional ones like the Kaval (a Bulgarian flute) and Darabuka (a hand drum). Audience members get to drum and sing along with the band.

Bring your dancing souls, too, as the Hi-Dukes like to lead audiences of all ages through the fun circle dances that fit the music!

Jutta & the Hi-Dukes is an Earwig Music Company recording artist, touring in America and internationally since 1990.
