District 46 to Spend More on Downtown Conference

Grayslake Elementary District 46 is among several suburban school districts that will be spending more to attend an annual school board conference downtown Chicago, which this year has already cost D46 taxpayers $2,300 more than last year, according to the Daily Herald.

That number is expected to rise to $even higher after the final hotel bills, food and travel is tallied, according to the article. Last year, 735 representatives from 90 of the 93 school districts spent $574,197 on the conference with some of the purchases including gourmet popcorn and limo rides, according to the Daily Herald.

District 46 is among eight school districts that have surpassed last year's total spending, according to a Daily Herald analysis.
