Frederick School Holds Back-to-School Event for Fifth-Graders

Students learned important back-to-school lessons and won prizes.

Frederick School held a kick-off camp Aug. 8-9 to welcome incoming fifth-graders to the school.

James Goschy, sixth grade resource teacher, said nearly 175 incoming fifth-graders signed up for the camp.

"Over the course of the two-day session, students rotated among eight stations designed to reduce anxiety about the upcoming transition and reinforce important concepts related to school and life success like cooperation, communication skills, organization skills, and defining and understanding the importance of respect," said Goschy.

The camp also included a raffle with prizes supplied by Buffalo Wild Wings, Tastee Freez, Pazazz, Dog N Suds, and Drs. Selke and Reily.

One lucky student even won a ride or or from school on a Grayslake fire truck.
