When and how did your business get started? TFP (The Fitness Pursuit) was started in 2003. TFP's Swim Training Center was added in 2013. The STC was added due to continue demand for swim coaching for all abilities and ages from our current and incoming clients. The Endless Pool system was in the original sketch of the Multi-Sport Studio at 1186 in the same complex in Washington Square, but after a lot of discussion we decided it was not the right fit. In 2012 we decided to move forward and adding it 100 feet away was the answer. Now it allows us to work with four lanes and control a healthy atmosphere, which is critical with a pool.
What is your business best known for? The STC is known for: clean and private design; ease of coaching with the swimmer 2 feet from the coach at all times; technology with underwater video system and large flat-screen to view it on, along with four swim currents/lanes that go from 1.08/100-yard pace to as slow at 6.50/100-yard pace.
Does your business offer a special deals card or program? TFP offers specials at events throughout the year, along with monthly specials.
What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know? We coach all levels, from 4 to 70 years old, and high school swimmers to Ironman Triathletes. Rentals are an option, too, for $15/hr. Visit www.thefitnesspursuit.com/content, look in rental menu option.
Why did you choose to open your business in Grayslake? We chose to open in Grayslake since the original studio was here. It allows us and our clients to make the 20-second walk, whether doing two services or meeting someone like a spouse, child or friend after their workout. We plan to continue to help make a positive impact in the Grayslake area for many years to come as we have been supported so well from the community.
