GFX International Gets the Gold

The design and execution firm in Grayslake wins big for being the biggest losers!

44 employees at GFX International, at 333 Barron Blvd., a design and execution firm for retail communication, won gold for the company in the third annual statewide Wellness Competition sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Illinois State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management.

The employees lost a total of 287.6 pounds in 12 weeks in the biggest loser challenge.

40 companies in Illinois participated in the event, called the WOWIEs, which along with other measures and health efforts resulted in health care premiums without an increase over 2011 rates.

“More and more employers and human resources professionals have come to realize that employee wellness programs are excellent ways to promote positive health care behaviors and create more productive workers and employees,” said Donna Rogers, director of ISC-SHRM.
