Patch Passport: Treasure Hunt - Decorum

The Friday Patch Passport shows you where you can find trinkets in your town. Get out and explore Decorum and all of the unique items it has to offer.

Whether you want jewelry or art, home decor or garden decorations, silk flowers or small trinkets, Decorum is a great place to hunt for treasures.

Chris Roemer and Marta Corrigan, friends and neighbors in Grayslake who have owned Decorum for eight years, say that they love offering an eclectic mix of merchandise.

"It's a girlfriend shop." said Corrigan. "So many people call this their happy place. They can always find something for their friends. We are so grateful for local customers who come back every week."

They feature jewelry from Tara Anne, a local jewelry designer; Deanna Rose of Chicago; and Peggy Karr Black. They also sell many Natural Life products, including purses, lunch bags, mugs and pillows. Many products are made in the United States.

The price point ranges from trinkets under $10 to a large piece of art for $1,200. Most items cost between $20 and $30. The selection and the prices keep customers coming back, the owners said.

"Our customers become our friends," said Roemer. "We don't carry what the mall carries. We don't carry generic, mass produced items. We stock the store with unique treasures."
