Destination ImagiNation® Informational Meeting
A second informational meeting is being offered to families interested in Destination ImagiNation, a 21st learning experience being offered as an extra-curricular activity to D46 students.
The D46 Foundation will offer a second informational meeting for families interested in Destination ImagiNation® (DI) on Thursday, 9/22 at 7:00 PM at the Grayslake Public Library. An informational meeting offered on 8/30 was well attended and we have continued to receive communication from interested families, prompting this second meeting.
The "Why Destination ImagiNation" White Paper (http://www.idodi.org/index.php/team-support/downloads/category/9-white-papers) offers an excellent overview of the program and its benefits to today’s students. DI is being sponsored by the Foundation as an extra-curricular activity to be offered to K-8 students throughout D46. If you know of a business that might be interested in helping to sponsor this invaluable program that prepares young minds for the real world, please contact the Foundation by sending an email to d46foundation@gmail.com.
DI fosters the “4 C's,” which are critical for long-term success:

As is the case in other local districts such as Libertyville D70 and Deerfield Public Schools, parent involvement is a required component. Volunteer parents will act as Team Managers given the support of two volunteer DI consultants. In addition to the Team Manager, a second volunteer adult must be present at each meeting. This position can be shared/rotated among parents of participants.

We can only offer as many teams as we have Team Managers. Therefore, a primary goal of this informational meeting is to recruit Team Managers. Thus far, most parents are choosing to pair up with another enthusiastic parent to act as Co-Team Managers, which we whole-heartedly support!
