Arbor Day, Wine Tastings, Thai Cooking: Get Out There

Concerned about the threat of invasive species to trees in your neighborhood? 
Join us for the Arbor Day Celebration at Rollins Savanna Forest Preserve in Grayslake on Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Twenty assorted trees will be raffled off every hour. One free raffle ticket to win a tree will be distributed to each adult attending.

The trees are part of a USDA Forest Service grant, which also is providing about 2,000 trees to the Lake County Forest Preserves for planting throughout the preserves. Forestry staff will be available at the event to answer your questions about how to select trees most likely to thrive at your site.

Demonstrations and discussions on tree planting, care and site selection, and prevention and treatment of pests such as the emerald ash borer will be repeated throughout the event.

The entrance and parking area to the Arbor Day Celebration are located on Washington Street at Atkinson Road, just west of Route 45 and east of Route 83.

Scenic Nature Hikes: Birding

Learn to recognize, enjoy and appreciate the resident and migratory birds of northeastern Illinois. Bring binoculars. All sessions are held at colorful natural areas within an hour's drive of your home. The instructor will contact you with detailed directions on the location of the first class just before the course begins. Third Annual Relay for Life Charity Wine Tasting at Grand Cru Wine Merchants

Join us for an afternoon of wine tasting and good times for our third annual benefit for Relay for Life Saturday, April 28 from 1-4 p.m. It costs just $5 at the door and 10 percent of all sales will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Light refreshments will be served.

Pinot Noir Wine Tasting

What better red wine for warm weather than Pinot Noir? We'll be joined by three of our favorite wine reps who will be tasting more than a dozen Pinot Noir's from around the world as you enjoy a selection of artisan cheeses.
The $5 participation fee will be donated to local charities.
Reservations not necessary but appreciated.

 

Zumba Fitness in Libertyville

Zumba classes are held every Saturday at 9 a.m. and every Wednesday at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted. All fitness levels and experience levels are welcomed. Pricing ranges from $8-$15, depending on registration options.

Session registration and early bird discounts available. Grab your towel, your water bottle, and your friends and get ready to shake, shimmy and salsa away your cares!

 

LGSA Travel Gym Jam

The Libertyville Girls Softball Association is pleased to invite all Travel Players and their families to attend the first Annual Gym Jam, at the Libertyville Sports Complex on Saturday April 28 from 6 - 8 p.m.

This is going to be a fun-filled event for the whole family. Activities include game stations, DJ quality music, "Minute to Win it"-style contests, a dunk tank and much more!

The event is being made possible through private donations and various event sponsors including Libertyville Dominos Pizza, Stables on Blanmar Hills, Yahara Springs, Slammers Illinois and Batterz Box.

We are hoping that all travel players and their families join us. Players are invited to wear the team uniform and to show off their team spirit.
