Software engineer Sarath Kumar Potharajua, of Grayslake, was in Washington D.C, when he was reported missing by a relative on March 31.

The body of Sarath Kumar Potharaju, 35, of Grayslake, who went missing while sightseeing near the FDR Memorial in Washington, D.C. last month, was found floating in the Tidal Basin April 11, reported the Chicago Tribune.

Potharaju, a software engineer, was in D.C. for contract work and was visiting relatives, according to the Huffington Post. He reportedly was touring the area when he left to use a restroom and never returned.

“My son was a brilliant engineer specialising in mobile testing tools and did Masters in Science from Grenoble University in France. He aspired for a job in the World Bank and was almost there. But fate had something else in store for him," said Potharaju's father, Krishna Murthy, to the Indian newspaper The Hindu.
