Center Street in Grayslake Closed For Repairs

Railroad crossing repairs in downtown Grayslake have closed Center Street from May 22 - 25.

The main entrance into downtown Grayslake is closed this week. Drivers who turn off Route 83 onto Center Street hoping to reach the downtown businesses will be disappointed as the road is closed at the railroad tracks.

The Village of Grayslake stated on their website that the Canadian National Railroad plans repairs on the line through town from at Center Street from May 22 to May 25.

The closure dates are approximate and may be extended due to inclement weather or obstacles encountered during construction.

During this period, the railroad crossing will be closed to all traffic. All residents and businesses affected by this closure should use the railroad crossing at Lake Street or Route 120.

Don't blame the village. On their website at www.villageofgrayslake.comThe Village of Grayslake is not responsible for the maintenance of the railroad crossing and has no control over the timing or duration of the closure."

What would have been nice is if someone, anyone, would have given us notice, any notice, whatsoever.

The work didn't start until Wednesday the 23rd, so there's a decent chance it will be closed over the three day weekend...

The Lake St crossing is planned to be closed June 5 through 8 as well.

Well... there was something in your water bill along with a broadcast message from the village on the 16th. Also, the railroads own the crossing and can at anytime close it without any notice at all. YSATRC

Has the crossing at Center St to downtown Grayslake been opened yet?
