Garbage Pick-Up In Grayslake Delayed Due To Holidays

Put out your garbage and recycling one date later than normal after the holidays.

The is reminding people that due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, garbage and recycling pick-up will be delayed one day during the week of Dec. 25, 2011 and Jan. 1, 2012.  

There will be no garbage or recycling service on Monday, Dec. 26 or Monday, Jan. 2; service will take place one day later. Rather, service will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 27 and Tuesday, Jan. 3.

If residents want to have a larger or smaller trash can, that is possible in the new year. Registration for the 2012 Garbage Can Exchange Program will take place between Jan. 1 and Feb. 15, 2012. Residents opting to exchange their garbage can may choose one of three garbage can sizes:

  • 90-gallon for $19.83/month
  • 65-gallon for $17.69/month
  • 35-gallon for $14.74/month

The garbage can exchange will take place in March, and the garbage rate change will take effect on April 1st, according to the Village of Grayslake website. If your garbage can is damaged, you may contact the Request for Service System anytime during the year to have it repaired or replaced.
