Why Go?:  The United Way of Lake County and Bernie's Book Bank are sponsoring Page It Forward, Lake County's biggest book drive. Their goal is to collect 100,000 books for children in low-income homes in Lake County. Come to this site in Gurnee to donate new or slightly used children's books. Why Go?: Written by Lake Bluff author, Susan L. Haugland, and London composer, Nicola Jane Buttigieg, this musical production examines the nature of genius and the guarded life Beethoven lived. This musical has been showcased in New York's Times Square Arts Center and London's West End. Incredible cast of area talent performs this love story that is based on the novel Three Weeks in Vienna by Susan L. Haugland.  Where/When: Ryerson Woods Welcome Center, 21950 N. Riverwoods Road in Riverwoods; 8 - 9 p.m., Friday, August 12.

Why Go?: Members of the Skokie Valley Astronomers' Club meet monthly. Adults and children over 12 who are interested in astronomy are welcome to attend. No registration is necessary. Meetings begin with a presentation on astronomy followed by outdoor sky viewing if the weather allows. Member Christine Welsh will describe viewing the constellations during the fall season at tonight's meeting.

Where / When: ; 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday, August 13.

Why Go?: Join the University of Illinois Extension for music, entertainment, face painting, hay rides, petting zoo, battle of the bands and BBQ food vendors. Fun for the whole family.
