Get Out: Fiber and Folk Art, FundFest and More

Where/When: ; 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, June 24 and 25, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.,  Sunday, June 26.

Why Go?: Workshops, demonstrations, marketplace and music. Garment competition, do-it-yourself fashion show, juried art exhibit and non-juried vintage handbag exhibit.

Pricing: $10 per day or $25 for all three days; free for kids 10 and under

Where/When: ; 1 p.m., Saturday, June 25.

Why Go?: Food, live music and fun to benefit the CCSD 46 Education Foundation. Several bands and musicians will perform blues, jazz and acoustic rock. The foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to enhance elementary school programs and support teachers and staff. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions and accept tax-deductible donations. All ages are welcome.

Pricing: Free admission, donations accepted

Where/When: The Shanty, 38995 N. US 41, Wadsworth; 1 - 5 p.m., Sunday, June 26.

Why Go?: Come to the Shanty, as seen on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and "Let's Dish" for lunch, live music, raffles and prizes to benefit Save-A-Pet. Full lunch of Mediterranean salad tossed with olive oil, penne pasta tossed in homemade marinara sauce, cherry-wood roasted amish chicken, red potatoes baked in butter and garlic, apple-wood smoked pulled pork with baked rolls. Pricing: $30 per person or $55 for 2 - includes lunch, one door prize ticket and one raffle ticket

Where/When: Grant Woods, Lake Villa; 9 - 10 a.m., Saturday, June 25.

Why Go?: Take a one-hour guided nature hike through the Grant Woods Forest Preserve, located on Monaville Road between Route 59 and Fairfield Road. The hike is for adults only.

Pricing: $1 for Lake County residents; $2 for non-residents

 

5.

Where/When: Greenbelt Forest Preserve, 1215 Greenbay Rd., North Chicago; 7 - 9 p.m., Friday, June 24.

Why Go?: Enjoy the magic of the campfire, roast marshmallows, listen to music, tell stories, make crafts and experience nature at night during this family event. Enter the Greenbelt Forest Preserve from the west side of Green Bay Road, south of Belvidere Road, across from the entrance to the Greenbelt Cultural Center. Meet at Shelter D. This event is free and no registration is required.
