Knights In San Diego, Headed For Home - Day 5

Highlights from San Diego by Josh Kortenkamp and Joey Amsler, the Grayslake North Varsity Lacrosse Captains.

Day 5: March 29

After a long, fun filled day at the beach, it was time to get back to business. We woke up early and left for practice to get ready for our first real test of the trip, Rancho Bernardo.

After a nice tune up, the team headed to Chick-Fil-A. Then we returned to the hotel and showered, and several guys then went to the mall to get dessert. A yogurt restaurant named Yogen Früz served a myriad of choices like cheesecake.

Aside from eating, much of the team stuck to their rooms. Many were nursing sunburn injuries, and trying to catch up on much needed sleep.

As it came time to play, the Knights rolled out of their beds and onto the bus. After a long ride we arrived at Rancho Bernardo ready to play.

Both teams came out strong striking early. A standstill score of 1-1 held with both defenses playing strong. Rancho Bernardo unfortunately ended the drought about 6 minutes into the 2nd quarter. Much to the dismay of the Knights, this was not the end of the scoring. Despite valiant efforts Grayslake North fell 11-2.

After the game however, there was still fun to be had as the team headed to In-N-Out burger. With a packed house, one member convinced the employee calling orders it was Nick Stanfel's birthday. After a restaurant-wide song of happy birthday, we grabbed our food and left.

A majority of the team turned in early, as we prepared to wake up at 4 a.m. Looking back, the memories made will last forever. And the Knights could not be more thankful to their coaches and chaperones for a great trip.
