Northeast Illinois Under Winter Storm Warning

Four to eight inches of snow expected.

Some of northeast Illinois, including Cook, Lake and McHenry counties, is now under a winter storm warning.

The National Weather Service issued the warning at 10:45 a.m. and it will be in effect until 9 a.m. Friday. Snowfall accumulations of four to eight inches are expected across the region, with isolated higher amounts possible, including near Lake Michigan.

Winds are expected to increase this afternoon to 15-25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour.
